Eleonora Fisco’s poetry begins with the rhythm of the breath, imprinting itself on paper before finding space inside and outside the body, creating an energetic bridge with the audience. Her work explores an oxymoronic, feminist, and trans-generational approach to self-construction, transforming acts of rebellion into spaces of freedom. More recently, Eleonora has turned her attention to digital death and mourning rituals through poetry in the contemporary age.
Her journey into the world of poetry slam began in 2017 with the founding of the Yawpisti collective alongside Marco Gorgoglione, which animated the poetry slam scenes of Pisa, Sicily, and Basilicata until 2021. She is a member of the board of the Italian Poetry Slam League (LIPS), having served as coordinator for the Tuscany region and for the Under-20 poetry slam championship for students.
Through spoken word poetry, Eleonora has learned that exposing oneself is a way to connect and to challenge the paradigms through which we perceive the world. Since 2018, she has performed solo and collective pieces across Europe and the United States, experimenting with practices and languages alongside Italian and international artists, and has been published in poetry anthologies. A three-time finalist in the LIPS national poetry slam championship, she regularly collaborates with artistic and literary festivals, universities, and cultural institutions as a poet, educator, and event organizer.
Eleonora has also organized artistic residencies for the Ekphrasis and One Poetic Voice projects. Her work comes alive on stage in solo and collective performances, from her individual poetry show Muoviti ferma to the ensemble pieces Magma and Fuoco e Radici, challenging the uselessness of poetry.
